Trying to distinguish himself from Barack and Hillary, McCain noted on the stump yesterday that “it is not the duty of government to bail out and reward those who act irresponsibly, whether they are big banks or small borrowers.” While that’s not a crazy statement on its face, boy does he have a tin ear for timing. A *Republican* administration has already decided to bail out a large investment bank. But for those homeowners who overextended due to aggressive and misleading lending practices….fuck you, go into foreclosure. Nice. That should win over a lot of voters. What an asshole.
