Ann Coulter on Larry KingI’ve written before about Ann Coulter. Why Is Ann So Skinny, and The Trouble With Ann attempted to make the point that she’ll say anything just to get attention. If ever I was proven right, it was this week, when she appeared on the Today show to hawk her new book, “Godless: The Church of Liberalism.”

So here she was, given a full eight or nine minutes one-on-one with Matt Lauer, to say whatever she wanted to say. According to Media Matters, this was apparently the third time in eight months that she has been on the show. So what did she say this time? I hesitate to give her words more distribution, but I’m also hoping that reasonable people who read this here blog and who previously thought that Coulter actually represented some kind of legitimate position on anything will see the error of their ways. Apparently, these are quotes from her book (which I have no intention of reading).

The first quote Matt asked her to justify was, “I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths as much [as the widows of victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks].” The actual full quote is, “These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis. I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths so much.” Now, apart from being a totally reprehensible thing to say, it’s just not very, um, “godly,” is it? Is that something a Christian would say? If you don’t like the women making a political issue out of their grief, that’s one thing. But to use the word “enjoying,” is just plain hateful. HATEful.

I’ve talked about Ann’s hate before. She’s consumed with it. She hates and hates and hates, writes books about hating, then goes on television talking about how much she hates certain whole swaths of people — you know, THOSE people… Those… LIBERALS…

Then she pulls a classic neo-con move… Turning her position into that of the victim. She takes the stance that no one is allowing conservatives to simply respond to liberal positions. She tells Lauer, “They were using their grief in order to make a political point while preventing anyone from responding.” Lauer then mentions that no one was telling her she couldn’t respond. Then she says, “now you’re getting testy with me.” Ann, you have been given more airtime to put forth your hatred than any of these widows. How dare you play the victim.

So what did this group of widows do after they lost their husbands in the WTC terrorist attack? Damn them, they had the GALL to pressure those in charge to investigate whether or not anything could’ve been done to stop the attacks before they happened. Why did they do that? Gee, could it have anything to do with the fact that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney initially were against a full public investigation into what happened on September 11th? And even after they eventually were pressured into it, they dug in their heels and tried to impede the investigation in any way possible. These were women who lost their husbands due to major foul-ups in the government, and they just wanted answers.

We live in the NY Metro area. So does Ann Coulter (she has a multimillion dollar penthouse in Manhattan). She should know that a Zogby poll after the attack noted that half of NYC residents and 40% of NY State residents believed that the government knew about the attacks before they happened but did nothing to stop them. With that many people in the area where the attacks occurred thinking that the government messed up here, would it not make sense that those who were most affected would make their voices heard when the government was refusing to take responsibility? For this, they are told they’re “enjoying” their husbands’ deaths?

I think perhaps before Ann got license to write a book about ‘Godlessness,” she should have first admitted that she is no Christian.

It’s kind of funny, because she actually lies about her Christianity as well. Check out this piece at Raw Story. Apparently, Ann was featured in an article in Time magazine, which talked a lot about her supposed “church” and how she always brought people there. Turns out Redeemer Presbyterian’s Communications and Media Director Cregan Cooke couldn’t confirm if Coulter had ever been there. Of course, that doesn’t mean she never has, but given how enlightened Coulter believes herself to be, one would think she’d be right up there in the front row singing Godly songs at the top of her lungs. Guess not.

The UK-based Guardian has one spot where you can see the most un-Christian of Coulter’s drivel. There, you’ll find such Coulter gems as “you’re no longer a grieving mom; you’re a C-list celebrity trolling for a book deal or a reality show” (talking about Cindy Sheehan), “My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building,” and my favorite, “Frankly, I’m not a big fan of the First Amendment.” This, despite the fact that she believes that people are always trying to keep her from “responding.”

Well Ann, you’ve done it again. You’ve whored yourself out to sell more books. You’re #1 at Amazon.com, and for all I know you’ll be #1 on the NY Times list. All publicity is good publicity, right? Everyone’s talking about you. The problem is now, with all your insane quotes so well documented in the blogosphere and elsewhere, there is now a legitimate and lengthy record of the difference between who you claim to be, and who your words say you are.

I really and truly hope there is a god. And I’d really really love to be there when Coulter attempts to “respond” to him (or her) when taken to task on the hatred she spread while she was here, all under cover of being “godly.” And how funny, and how ironic it would be, if god interrupts her and says, just before closing the Gates in front of her, “you know, I’m not really a fan of the First Amendment either…”

You liberals are amazing. Even time Ann spoke the truth, you went bonkers. If you listened to her while she was on Sean Hannity’s radio and talk show, she explain her remarks clearly (when she wasn’t interupted). Maybe it would be nice if you read the book to put it into proper context.

But just keep hating Ann, you’re helping her sell more books. That’s just fine by me.

“When she wasn’t interrupted??” You have got to be kidding me. On the Sean Hannity show?? Sean is the KING if interrupting people. Amazing how he let ANN speak without interruption, eh?

She has had MORE than enough time to say whatever she wanted. She had NO other guests there other than herself. Her words are always there for anyone to see. How else would you interpret, ” We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity?”

I meant when she was on Hannity & Colmes on your favorite network FOXNEWS when she was constantly interupted by Alan Colmes.

You can’t deny the fact that she’s telling the truth about the four Jersey Girls, not all 9/11 widows the liberal media portrayed her to do.

She clearly demostrated herself quite clearly her position on this controversy. I also loved her comeback to Hillary when she had the audacity to accused her of mistreating women by asking her to ask her husband about mistreating women. BRILLIANT!!!!

Oh poor Ann… She can’t hold her own in a conversation with Alan Colmes?? Have you ever seen Sean interview a liberal? There is no comparison. Talk about “not being given an opportunity to respond,” Sean bullies every one of his guests and makes them answer every “have you stopped beating your wife” type question with a yes or no… Every question begins with, “wouldn’t you agree, Senator Kennedy…” etc…

Why doesn’t he just ask a question and let someone answer? Not good television. Not good radio.

Alan Colmes, in comparison, is someone Ann can walk all over, and I’m sure she did, before Sean likely butted in and “saved” her from that horrible man, Colmes.

And as far as Bill Clinton, I believe the one woman he was actually caught in the act with was a willing participant. As for any other potential women, none of them have any credibility, as they have all sold out to tabloids or television shows when they couldn’t prove their cases.

Oh please, Sean is fair and balanced in his treatment of his liberal guests. It’s not his fault that some of them can’t simply answer a yes or no question straight out, or some of them are so full of hatred of conservatives that they sounded stupid. On Hannity & Colmes the other night, he had a New Jersey politican who can’t answer Sean’s question on whether he agreed with Cindy Sheenan’s vicious comments against the President. Also, Alan Colmes and the NJ politican had the audacity to question Ann’s motives and suggested that she made those comments about the Jersey Girls to make money. That’s just plain silly.

I can’t wait to see her on The Tonight Show Wednesday. I bet she’ll be great.

Travis, one of these days you’re going to wake up. I just know it. “Some of them are so full of hatred of conservatives that they sounded stupid.”

The right-wing has cornered the market on hate, and I know that you know it.. There’s none left for us liberals.

Ann’s motives have to be about money at this point. She keeps topping herself with outrageous, mean, hateful statements. Every time a new book comes out, it’s time for a new round of hate spew. It’s a pattern, and I’m glad that the media is finally realizing it… Even the conservative media.

Bloomberg says “will do or say anything to feed her attention-addiction disorder.”.

The Huffington Post has a great blog entry about who is making money off Ann’s outrageous statements, and another about how Ann is to Christianity what Bin Laden is to Islam.

The Washington Post says it’s time to stop giving Ann Coulter a platform to “boost ratings and circulation.” I couldn’t agree more. Proving the point, Coulter is quoted in the article as saying, “I’d say my ‘name calling’ has been a smashing success.” That’s an understatement. Ann is raking in the dough with this book and her latest round of hate spew, and according to someone whose name I didn’t catch from Scarborough Country, her next book will undoubtedly have a first pressing of fifteen million copies. How’s THAT for a money-making machine??

And last but not least, my favorite headline from the NY Daily News, “Blather Sells, so Big Mouth Keeps On Shoveling.”

It’s all about the money, Travis. Always was. I know you can see that. There is no denying it.

You poor liberal. You hate it when a conservative like Ann Coulter have success despite attacks by the mainstream media. To suggest that Ann is using 9/11 as a promotional tool for her book is simply ridiculious. In case you didn’t know, her last two books were best sellers just like this one. It’s hardly unlikely she need any more controversy to help drive book sales but keep up the good work.

She, as well as Sean hannity and Rush Limbaugh, are more intelectually honest than most liberals like Hillary Clinton and stands by their convictions.

Unless you have any hard proof that Ann is a phony in her beliefs, I suggest you find another phony argument.

Let me ask you something, Travis. Is it just possible that Ann could’ve taken a slightly different stance with this whole 9/11 widows issue? Let’s pretend she had some kind of realization of the fact that she’s supposed to be a Christian and said, “hmmm… I could directly attack these widows whom I hate so much and just come out and say they’re witches or something, yeah… and say what I REALLY think which is that they’re ENJOYING their husband’s deaths, but I think that would probably be very hateful and distract from the actual message that I want to send, which is the notion that I think these women are using their husband’s deaths as a political tool. Instead I think I’ll gather my facts as best I can and lay out the premise that the moment their husbands died, they were ready to seize the opportunity and hire lawyers and such to politicize the issue at the moment the country was in mourning, and that they didn’t even wait for anyone to get a grip on it, they started attacking immediately.” Not that any of that’s true, but you can see my point. My guess is that if she had taken that tack with her book, this whole blowup would never have happened on the Today show because there would never be anything so “controversial” to talk about other than her opinion that these women are “taking advantage” of their husbands’ deaths. Couldn’t that have been a controversial enough statement as it was?

No, she had to step WAY over the line for the sake of sensationalism and selling books, and call them hateful, spiteful names and say they’re ENJOYING their husbands’ deaths. Hateful, all of it. And clearly contrived to sell more books. I’m not saying she’s a phony in her beliefs, I fully believe that she’s as hateful, spiteful and jealous as all getout. I’m just saying that she could’ve been a bit nicer to people who have suffered so much, particularly when she has no idea what it’s like to lose a husband.

And as far as driving up sales, that’s what all these right-wing talk show hosts are for. This is why they say sensationalist things all the time — for money. It gets them ratings, which gets them MONEY. It makes their stations money. I know of at least one person who listens regularly to Michael Savage not because he believes what Savage says, but because he knows Savage is a crazy loon who is bound to go off on something everytime he opens his mouth. It makes good radio (if you can stand it) and it makes good book sales. Sean uses his show to sell his books. O’Reilly does the same. So does mark Levin, who recently wrote a book about activist judges… Gotta love that one. Remember, true Constructionists would never have overturned a state issue and have installed a president. You wanna talk about activist judges…

Anyway, “hard proof” is in the sales numbers. You don’t care about facts anyway.

That’s why I like Ann. She’s not afraid to say what’s on her mind and be politically incorrect. I might have say something different about the Jersey Girls, but that’s Ann. And her fans are proving that she’s have a point with her book sales. That’s what’s great about capitalism.

Yep, and as I mentioned, Ann knows ALL ABOUT capitalism. She’s playing the media like a fiddle. Wonder if she’s donating any of the proceeds to charity?

Something to say?
