Why does it always take the foreign press to illuminate facts that should be plastered on the front pages over here? Could it be because there is NO liberal media? Could it be because every bit of the mainstream press is bought and paid for by corporations who are at the beck and call of the GOP? No, we can’t read about Tom DeLay’s lack of ethics. There are too many people who might get called out. We also can’t read about impending civil war in Afghanistan, since the press would have us believe the country has been “reconstructed” and is a massive US success story.
It’s taken a long time, but there are signs that the general population is finally getting fed up with it all. They are starting to know they’ve been duped by the GOP. Congressional approval ratings are at an all-time low, with almost a 60% DISapproval rating. And we all know just who is in control of all houses of government right now, right? Not only that, but about the same proportion of the general population believes the US is headed in the wrong direction. If you’ve been asleep for the past four years or so, that direction would be toward Theocracy. And one other thing the GOP needs to be VERY afraid of. 47% of those polled would now vote Democratic in the Congressional elections, vs. 40% who would vote for the Greedy Ol Party. Methinks there will be no voter reform this term, so once again they can “win” even though every poll shows they lost. After all, when you can’t win fairly, you have to cheat. Well, some of us do anyway.
