Where Are The Real Conservatives?

I recently took part in an interesting exchange on a bulletin board in cyberspace. The board was a blue-collar type board for people in the heating/AC industry and it had a section where talking about religion and politics was allowed. At first, it appeared as if there was some intelligent discussion going on: What are Neo-Cons really? Where is the Democratic leadership headed with Dean as the DNC Chair? So I responded, eager to take part in this discussion.

A few posts later though, and the attacks began. I received private e-mails of support from two other members, but most of these people must’ve known better than to get in the ring with the people whom I found myself standing up against. I made one slip up and said that Max Cleland jumped on a grenade that he at first thought might have been thrown at his troop, but then he realized it might have fallen off his own belt and that’s how he was injured in Vietnam. The right-wingers on the site quickly looked up Cleland’s own words on his website where he mentions that he just grabbed his own grenade which he realized had fallen off his belt. No jumping, but I was nailed as a liar. My own fault, and I should’ve known better. What proceeded after that was a slide into a pit of hatred and attacks. It was interesting to say the least. One member prompted another to “go after him — I got yer six.” This is the type of people we on the left are dealing with day after day. There is no room for conversation, it’s just attack attack attack. There must be a way to talk with more reasonable conservatives without the distraction of these extremists who have nothing better to do than shoot at people who are stupid enough to put their heads up in a forum? One of these guys has posted over SIXTEEN THOUSAND posts in the forum. That tells you what these folks’ motivation is… The question is, where are the real conservatives? How do we find them to get back to some common ground? You can’t have a conversation when half the people are yelling.

There must be a way to talk with more reasonable conservatives without the distraction of these extremists.

Guess you get what you pay for when you Bad Mouth Real American Workers and The Military Men and Women that serve to keep the Freedom you hold so dear. If you really want to make a differance then go down to your local recruiters office and join the real voice of America and Defend your Country like Real men do and not sit behind a computor screen hiding Or you might even think about getting a real job You know like the ones on the forum you visited, by the way don’t forget to stop in the other forums too Steam Forum and Electrical Forum I am sure they would get a kick out of you too or maybe they might Yell at you as well.

You could have come out with that fact that you were going to post on another web site, you also could have just posted a link to the hvac website, Its a free country. The people in this website are very varied . Some are more agressive than others, but most of them believe what they say. Common ground is the problem, in any society. This may not be the best way to find common ground though.

I am a REAL conservative. I do not want, nor need, the goverments help, or nose, in my business. I believe in God and do not believe in same sex relationships. I also do not agree with Affirmative Action; if you can do the job, it should not matter what race or sex you are.Go out and start your own bussiness…I’m sure lots of readers have.. and see if you think that our goverment is intrusive. As a compassionate Christian, I am willing to help people in need of a hand-up….Not a hand OUT. Get a job and help move this country along. What else ???

I post here what I feel. This is my forum. I do not go “other places to get filler” for this site. I initially found that area of the bulletin board after getting answers to some heating questions I had. I was surprised that there were so many great posts on it, and thought “wow… a place where real conversations are taking place about relevant issues.” Then the attacks started. I did not deliberately go out to bait people.

And for those who think I am hiding something, here is the link to the bulletin board in question. You can see all my posts there if you want. I have nothing to hide. I just hope anyone who visits also will see all the hatred that is displayed from those who claim to be on the side of justice and moral uprightness.

Guess since you control what gets posted here you can delete what ever post you like to make your self look better, Unlike the site you visited, where the majority of posters have a say good or bad. Maybe just for kicks go back and read your postings and then tell everyone how you did not bait the conversations and attempted to discredit anyone that didn’t quite share your point of view. Yes you did go there to get filler for your your site otherwise why even mention it, Your actions are a disgrace and typical of those who oppose the current adminstation, its easy to sit back and lay the blame on everyone else without accepting any responsiblity yourself. Hmmmm funny thing too didn”t see any postings relevent to heating questions so its the old bait and switch Or better yet Lie to make yourself seem the poor victum.

I’m flattered that you all care so much.

My alias is volswagn and my first post was a question about cast iron baseboard. Former owner of my house added copper/fin baseboard to a room he added on and, of course, it is completely incompatible with the cast iron baseboard in the rest of the house. I asked if new cast iron baseboard would be a direct plug-in replacement.

Good Choice Deleting those last 3 Statements, after all its said and done ask yourself if it was really worth the headaches in the long run. You spend considerble amount of time in the Forum defending your train of thoughts or beliefs and in reality have nothing to show for it but useless aggrivation as evidence in your latest post. LIke I mentioned before relax enjoy Life, its not meant to be a battle all the time.

Not anymore… If you folks want to bask in your own ignorance and intolerance, go right ahead. I’m glad that you can all call people “ragheads” and talk about nuking them and still feel that morality is one of your stronger suits.

It’s a shame really. I post clear-cut facts from easily verifiable sources, and people call ME a liar and say I’m linking to “blogs.” Talk about lying.

Anyway, have a nice life over there. You all seem to have quite a nice, loving family on that forum.
